The Final Chapter
We’ve been home for a week, and have had a chance to reflect on our adventures.  Following is a recap of what worked and what didn’t -- and what we’d change if we did a trip like this again.

Farewell to Route 66
We reluctantly left the Best Western motel in Kingman, Arizona, this morning about 7:00 am.  This was one of the nicest places we have stayed at so far.

Almost to California
Today we got an early start, leaving the motel before 6:00 am to stay ahead of the rain.  We made good time, and retraced several of the Route 66 segments we covered on the way east.

Keep up with us as we travel cross country this summer.  As we follow Route 66, “the Mother Road,” from Santa Monica pier in California to Grant Park in Chicago, we will test the capabilities of our 2002 Harley Sportster and the limits of our endurance.  We’re aware that the Sportster is not built for touring, but that just makes the adventure more interesting!
