WILD GOOSE CHASE

Today, we headed west toward the Oregon coast.  We had planned to visit family outside Salem first, but they were not available.  So we started early on our planned side trip to the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon.

The museum complex includes an aviation museum, a space museum,

LET’S TAKE ANOTHER TRIP...

Before the summer is completely over, we wanted to have one more Harley escape.  A five-day jaunt through Oregon seems appropriate.

Today’s leg took us north from California to Roseburg, Oregon.  We did a little sightseeing along the way (so we wouldn’t be too early for check-in).  After we took

NOTES ON NEW ORLEANS

TRAVEL ECONOMICS AND MILEAGE

Last year’s trip covered 7,000 miles in 27 days, for an average of 259 miles per day.  Our more leisurely trip to New Orleans was about 5,300 miles (5,256) in 21 days – or 250 miles per day of travel.  This does not include the layover in Las Cruces, New Mexico, or

HOME, SWEET HOME

WE MADE IT HOME TODAY!  TRAVELLED 549 MILES IN ONE DAY, AND ARRIVED SAFELY.

Our plan had been to travel from Beatty, Nevada, to Minden, Nevada, in one day -- just like we did last year.  Then, we changed the destination to South Lake Tahoe, California.  Last time, we were here on a week-end, and

BACK TO BEATTY

We were up, packed, and out of the motel by 5:45 am today.  If we had waited, we would have taken advantage of their 7:00 am breakfast, and lost almost two hours on the road.

Our planned breakfast stop was in Kingman, Arizona, about 100 miles away.  Unfortunately, when we got to our favorite

New Orleans
We wanted to go to Italy this summer.  With the state of the economy, the condition of our budget, and the cost of fuel -- this is not an option.  Instead, we’re taking another trip on Harley, who gets about 50 miles to the gallon!

We plan to head south to San Antonio, Texas, ride along the Gulf coast toward New Orleans, and see how far we get.  (Let’s hope we can avoid hurricanes!)

This trip should cost about 1/4 the price of one round-trip ticket to Italy.
